Grinding Capability
|
Because of DETCO’S
experience and background in the machine tool industry, close tolerance,
precision work is common. DETCO
craftsmen are trained and dedicated to perform in a high quality,
precision work environment. Grinders are all maintained regularly
through a documented preventive maintenance program (DPM).
Grinders and work areas are regularly cleaned and painted to provide
friendly, comfortable surroundings.
Regularly scheduled plant meetings are held to discuss matters of
special interest and to keep personnel informed of changes in the
workload and special requirement jobs. Quality is always emphasized
at these meetings. Quality is assured by full-time Q/C inspectors.
The main facility
located in Detroit is equipped with a fifteen thousand square foot,
environmentally controlled finish grinding room for unusually close
tolerance work. The standard is .0002" minimum parallelism
on grinding work performed in this room. Specially trained craftsmen
and procedures including CNC equipped machines commensurate with
this type of grinding work, are maintained in this room.

Because of DETCO’s
techniques and abilities to perform close tolerance work on it’s
own products, DETCO is often
requested to perform surface grinding operations on material and
components belonging to others. As a result, DETCO
has developed a contract surface grinding service, which has rapidly
developed into a major portion of its business. Typical of contract
grinding work performed at DETCO
are machine beds and other machine components, weldments, gantry
components, fixtures, close tolerance dies and die plates, linear
motion bars and components, risers, bolster plates, and many and
other special designed parts for the defense industry and other
industries.
