The machining centers at DETCO are the latest CNC models from the U.S. and around the world. DETCO is capable of close tolerance machining of steel, cast iron and aluminum, and most any ferrous or non-ferrous metal.

In keeping with DETCO’s long-standing policy of innovative production methods, and in view of the company’s close tolerance precision surface grinding equipment, the machining portion of the business is equally important. Again, because of DETCO’s connection with the machine tool industry, DETCO’s craftsmen are trained and dedicated to perform in the same high quality, precision work environment. While the tolerances are not as close as required in the grinding area, the methods and philosophy are just as stringent. The same documented preventive maintenance (DPM) program is followed in the CNC machining area. Regularly scheduled plant meetings are held to keep personnel informed of changes in the work and special requirement jobs.

Because finish grinding is dependent on proper grind-stock, tolerances, and hole/slot location, it is incumbent upon operations in the CNC area to be performed within the proper specifications. While well-trained operators are necessary, modern equipment and techniques are an equal part of the function. This is the reason DETCO has the latest in CNC machine tools.

With these abilities to utilize such equipment and methods on its own products, DETCO has gained the reputation outside of its own facilities and is frequently requested to perform machining work for its customers. Similar to the surface grinding area, DETCO is growing its contract machining operations. Machining work is performed for customers on many types of machine tool components, weldments, tool and die components, defense industry, aerospace and other industries.
