On June 24, 1885,
Detroit Edge Tool Works was incorporated
in the State of Michigan, and is now the oldest machine knife manufacturer
in the world. The original company manufactured precision machine
knives, originally for lumber and woodworking then later for the metal
working industry. As times changed and after World War II, the company
began to manufacture machine tool components such as hardened and
ground, precision detachable ways and rails. These products are both
flame hardened, then precision ground.
DETCO
is celebrating over 100 years in business and is now involved with
new and rebuilt slide units for transfer line and special machine
tool builders. Two state of the art facilities are operating in
the Detroit area.
Along with linear
motion components, the company manufactures a wide range of knives
for metal cutting, plastic, textile and paper cutting.
Detroit
Edge Tool Company, continues its dedication to precision
and innovative technologies.
